The New York City Writing Project (NYCWP), established in 1978, is the oldest program of the Institute for Literacy Studiesat Lehman College, The City University of New York. As an affiliated site of the National Writing Project, the NYCWP is part of a network of over 189 university-based programs which seek to improve K-16 education through professional development, site-based services and research studies in the field of literacy.
